The Potter's House Finger Painters
In the beginning, Potter's House could shelter 17 women, abused and destitute, and their children. In 2002, the house was rebuilt and can now provide safety for 24 women and their children. In 2005, a baby-care center opened. Potter's House averages about 100 women and 50 children per year. The Potter's House also offers outreach services-a drop-in center, job preparation and job skills training-- to vulnerable women in Pretoria. Women become restored and empowered and some of them become finger painters. Yes, --you read that correctly. The table runners, table cloths, pot holders, small bags, and totes that they paint with their fingers help them become economically stable.
